But when it comes to home renovation, we all know how expensive this can be, and busting the budget is most people's biggest fear. So the question is, “Is it possible to renovate on a budget?” and the answer is YES. Charli, budget home decorator and DIY, has proven rightly so.
Charli lives in a lovely house with her two children. She has redecorated her home from scratch all by herself, proving that it’s possible to do amazing renovations and room transformations on a budget. For her, versatile elements are key when it comes to decorating, since they allow her to play around with the feel of the room adapting its style to every season.
She spends her free time taking care of her home and planning her next makeover for the upcoming season.
Tell us a little about yourself and what you do in your day to day life.
I’m Charli, a single mother of 2 children and I work in a school.
Do you spend lots of time at home?
I spend a lot of time at home outside of the school day, weekends and school holidays.
Where would someone be more likely to find you in your home and what would you be doing?
I spend most of my time in my kitchen, cleaning it or my bedroom, rearranging things and planning my next makeovers/seasonal decorations.
Did you design and decorate your home or did you have help from a professional?
I designed and decorated my whole house myself, I did all the transformations myself to prove to people that you can have a lovely home on a shoestring budget.
Which part of decorating your home did you enjoy the most? And the least?
The part I enjoyed the most was the kitchen, it is a completely transformed room and is by far my proudest achievement yet. My least favourite was the living room, as it had awful woodchip wallpaper, that was a nightmare to get rid of, but it paid off. And I now love the space.
Do you consider yourself to have an interior style? Describe it for us.
I don’t think I have a particular style, I like a mixture of modern, and traditional/timeless decor. My home is decorated in a way that makes it versatile enough to mix things up for seasonal decor, and accessorise it to change the feel of the room.
