5 Steps To Good Sleep

Waking up in the early hours of the day with enough time to make way for your morning routine sounds easy. After all, it’s just waking up - shouldn't it be easy?

But, if you’re not getting good quality sleep, you can kiss waking up early goodbye. 

Good quality sleep is so much more important than anyone realises. While it should be as simple as laying your head down, in reality, there's more to it.

So, we're here to help you out. Here are some tips you should do incorporate into your sleep routine for good quality sleep. 

  1. Clean up the Bedroom

Imagine this. You’ve been busy all day, clothes are strewn across the room, your chair is hidden under the pile of dirty laundry, your bedside table’s a mess, and you can no longer see the contents of your dresser. 

Waking up to this mess every day isn’t good for anyone, especially for you. You don’t want to keep waking up to this sort of silly stress hanging over your head. So, it’s time to stop waking up to the thought, “Oh my god, my bedroom’s a mess,” and instead, let’s have you wake up to your bedroom looking the way it should.

Cleaning up your room before bed is also a great way to wind down, and get your brain into thinking that, “Aaah, it’s time for bed.” It’s also good because you're no longer looking at your phone and instead, getting rather pleased with yourself by going to sleep in a clean room. 

  1. Drink up some calming chamomile tea

Ever find yourself hitting the pillow and then laying there for what seems like hours on end, wishing that you could finally go to sleep?

Chamomile tea will be a great addition to your sleep routine. In this busy world, chamomile tea is just absolutely fantastic, because, with every sip, you’re slowly vanquishing your worries. 

You’re no longer thinking about problems revolving around work, family, etc.. 

You’re now only focused on sleep.

Sipping your tea as you clean your bedroom while listening to soft, calming music does wonders in getting your brain to shut down. You’ll already be yawning even before you hit the sack. 

You might ask: what music should my sleep playlist include? 

Well, it depends on your taste. Are you one for orchestral, movie soundtracks, piano, or even nature sounds? It could take a few tries, but once you create that perfect sleep playlist, you’ll never google the words, “How to get good sleep,” ever again. 

  1. Sleep using the right material.

It’s amazing to see how many people underestimate sleeping on good quality sheets and pillows. 

This is a PSA: STOP SLEEPING ON POOR QUALITY SHEETS. 

You spend nearly eight hours a day sleeping; that’s one-third of your entire day. You’ve got to dedicate a little more effort than a cheap polyester cover. We’re not saying that you have to spend a fortune, but cotton sheets will have you sleeping better than a baby. Cotton sheets also last longer and their comfort is like no other.

  1. Sleep at the same time every day

Yes, sleeping at odd hours of the day sounds REALLY fun, but when you’re waking up exhausted, with no time for yourself and often skipping breakfast, who’s winning? 

You need to start sleeping at the same time every day. It can be a time you decide and before you know it, you’re waking up at pretty much the same time every day. You’ll soon find no use for your alarm clock.
