The Self-Care Routine You Are Looking For

The Self-Care Routine You Are Looking For

Posted by Cuddledown ‍ on

Every single person talking about a really good self-care morning routine will tell you to wake up at the same time every day and open your window drapes to let in that fresh sunlight.

They're definitely beneficial for you and we advocate for them. However, there’s so much more to a really good self-care morning routine and we’re here to guide you through it.

1) Stretching will get you reaching for the day

There’s nothing like a good stretch to wake you up in the morning. That feeling as your back straightens out, the tiredness seeping out of your body and turning into energy for the day is like no other.

But, we’re not just limiting ourselves to the basic stretch, are we?

Let’s raise those energy levels and have you ready to face the day. A bit of googling will you have stretching out every inch of your body with simple stretches that are easy enough to do in bed. It’s even better if you have your yoga mat at the ready, but your bed should suffice.

Even better for you would be to jump straight into a spot of exercise for that morning glow.

2) Give gratitude to the day

We highly recommend that you sit down with your diary or journal, write in a few lines expressing gratitude and what you’re looking forward to accomplishing.

We know, we know. This all sounds like a bit of pseudoscience. But, a few days of this trial where you sit at your desk sipping that cup of tea or espresso, and you’ll come to appreciate this part of your morning ritual. We’re about that self-care and there’s nothing that explains self-care better than gratitude for yourself.

3) Take a shower.

Now, we know what you’re thinking yet again. “A shower? Really? Self-care shouldn’t be that simple.” And that’s the thing - self-care SHOULD be simple.

But it doesn’t have to be just simple. Let’s make it a little self-indulgent. Use a mask before your shower. Get yourself some amazing towels. Boost your mood for the rest of the day by pouring in a few drops of your favourite essential oil at the bottom of your shower - we recommend lemon! And when you’re done, go about your morning skincare routine. We hope you’re not skipping this important step - after all, we should treat ourselves like the goddesses we are.

4) Get ready for the day

Getting yourself ready for the day, irrespective of whether you’re going to be at home or not, is so so very important.

Of course, if you have to be at work or a function, you’re going to get ready. But when you take the care to make yourself look good on the outside, paying no heed to what day it is, you’re going to feel good on the inside.

That’s essentially what self-care is about, isn’t it?

There’s a reason why self-care has become so important. We’re part of a busy world and as women, we’ve got so much to take care of. From work, family, friends, our home, etc.., there’s so much we have to do. But, we have to remember that the most important person in our lives is ourselves.

It’s why we’re pushing to create your own self-care routine. Yes, we’ve given you a basic few steps, but you can modify it according to how you want. It’s called SELF-care routine for a reason, right?
