We all love it when our house is clean and tidy, it makes us feel like we’ve got our life together and everything under control. In fact, for some people the simple sight of a clean and organised home can help them unwind and de-stress even after an overwhelming day.
Abby is a mum of two, who loves to spend time with her family in her lovely home. She dedicates lots of her time to keeping her house tidy and clean, which gives her the feeling of calm and relaxation she needs after a busy day. However, she always makes time for a moment to herself to unwind and switch off at the end of the day.
Describe how your home makes you feel.
My home makes me feel at peace, happy and content.
What’s your favourite part of the house and why?
My favourite part of my House is my bedroom. It's calm and relaxing. Followed closely by my kitchen.
What does a day at home look like to you?
A day at home always starts with Coffee and making breakfast for my children. If it’s a chilled day we tend to just take it slow, catch up on some jobs in the house and a film together.
Do you have a daily routine? If so, tell us more about it.
My typical daily routine starts with my alarm at 5.45, I start downstairs making my kids lunches for school, putting a wash load on and making sure my downstairs is tidy.
Once the children are awake the beds are made and my upstairs is cleaned. That sets me up nicely for the day. Then we go off to school and work and evenings are often filled with activities such as swimming/football.
Do you manage to find a moment every day to enjoy some “me time”? If so, how and where do you spend this moment?
I make sure every evening once my children are in bed I have ‘me time’, a bath or a catch up on my favourite program.
Do you have any bedtime rituals to help you sleep?
One of my bedtime essentials is to always spray my pillow with sleep mist a few minutes before getting into bed.
